First fundraising letter to Minneapolis landlords

Minneapolis Property Owners Action Committee

Dear Fellow Property owner:

HAD ENOUGH?

Your investments, your rights and your future are under serious attack and threat by the City of Minneapolis:

Current law and recent court decisions make you responsible for up to a million dollars or more in liability due to lead based paint on your property -- even if it causes alleged injury to a visitor or stranger to your property.

You may soon be held personally liable for any visitor’s or even a stranger’s misconduct (tort, negligence or otherwise) on your rental property.

The City of Minneapolis illegally holds rental property owners to higher standards than the MCDA or other public housing.

The Minneapolis Housing Inspections Department gives some property owners special exceptions and extensions while holding other property owners to insufficient notice and time limitations to remedy alleged problems.

Housing codes affecting tenants are not enforced. Rental property owners are held unjustly responsible for tenant violations.

We feel that the City of Minneapolis and the MCDA are actively working to condemn privately owned rental properties and socialize the rental housing of Minneapolis.

THE TIME HAS COME FOR ACTION!

Our group has hired a law firm and is in the process of suing the City of Minneapolis and the Inspections Department regarding its illegal and abusive conduct toward property owners. This may become a class action lawsuit. Look at it as a potential “investment” in your future. You don’t have to be named or formally identified to contribute in the effort but, if you like, you may directly participate .... It’s your choice.

HERE’S WHAT YOU CAN DO

Please consider contributing whatever you can afford. All money contributed will go directly to mailings, court costs, lawyer fees, etc.... Not into some politician’s pocket!

Consider becomeing a party to the class action suit!

Attend an informational meeting!
(Held the 1st and 3rd Tuesday of the month at 6:30 p.m.)

Spread the word to other property owners!

Please make checks payable and mail to:
